Winlogon.exe using all cpu 100%

HELP my laptop runs with xp service pack 2. Every time i start up it goes into dead slow mode, ie. 30 minutes just to load. TTask manager says winlogon.exe is using 100% cpu but wont let me close it. Have searched net for answers but all seem to say do a sys restore or do a virus scan, Problem being my laptop wont let me do anything. RRReally need help with this have job interview on monday and everything I need is stuck on the laptop.

boot in too safe mode
first make sure you have antivirus and anti spyware - down load them to the desk top do not open or run -
disconnect from the internet - you do know this drill?

is your hard drive over 80% full? yes? it may be about to crash

there is many other things -- safe mode then check
remember if it is a virus and you do remove it when conected to the net your system will implode.
check the hdd
