  1. Short answer, yes. If the hard disk was formatted with large enough partitions, then you can have a separate partition for Win XP.

    Some versions of Win 7, like Win7 64-bit Professional, and some others have the built-in feature of a virtual XP machine. Use this feature if your version supports it. The Professional and also the Ultimate versions have the 'Windows XP Mode' -
  2. Is the PC already running windows 7? If not, you can run the upgrade advisor to see if the system will support win7.

    If you are already running win7, you may have an issue. If you are trying to dual boot the OS's, the older OS always has to be installed first, so in this case, you will need to install XP first, then Win7.
