using SpeedFan 4.35
running two instances of Prime95, max heat
I had a temp of 62 degrees. Ran for hours.
I exit both Prime95's and almost instantly
my temp dropped to 51 degrees.
5 min later to 45 degrees. 10 min later to 43 degrees.

Does this sound normal. The near instant drop that is.

Cooler is a Thermalright ultra-120 extreme, 1200rpm 120mm fan, on a E8400 @ 400x9 3.2GHz.

Thanks.

Yes actually if you look at the laws of physics (always wanted to use that in a sentence).

but for real,
if something is producing heat, then it stops it is bound to cool off, when you add you that a Heat sink with over 50ft of heat dissipation area and you add in a fan which acts a catalyst to the whole equation a sudden drop in temperature in only the best scientific hypothesis.

My temps drop within seconds to idle temps, but I have a fan speed of 1560 RPM and it's at 100% all the time. I suspect that you have the mobo controlling your fan speed which lowers the RPM as the temps come down. Is that the case?

Thanks x_2, Zorg
(400x8=3.2)
cpu fan runs 100% (off 12v of the PS) at 1165.
Doing the experiment a few times I guess I could say it plots exponential.
Indeed, It took seconds to get to 45deg. At 5, 10, 20 min it moves around 42-45
