Sata II cable ca use in Sata III HD without any speed loss?

Hello,
just bought a new Sata III drive. Do I have to get a Sata III cable or can I use a Sata II cable without any speed loss?

  1. You do not need new cables - SATA III is designed to be backwards compatible - including the cabling. If you're interested, the SATA.org website has a ton of info, and this pdf is a great start:
