This is strange, cores running too warm?

It shows my Cores at warm temperatures when I have no programs running. I have an antec 300 case and when I put my hand over the top fan its blowing really cool air. Why is it running so warm?

System Specs:

Antec 300 case
Intel D975XBX2 Mobo
Intel Dual Core 2 Quad 6800 3.0ghz
GeForce 9800GTX+ Foxconn
Enhance 500w PSU

I assume you mean 'CPU' rather than PCU. Define 'warm temeratures'.

Yeah my bad... well there is a picture right there. I assume the flames mean "warm" or "hot"... and there isn't even anything running yet

try reseating the heatsink, those pushpins on the stock cooler can be a bit difficult. wipe the old thermal paste from the sink and cpu and apply some new.

Well, considering your cpu temp is listed at -40C, don't you think those other measurements could be off?

What does your bios say about those temps?how about other software?

This may be a silly question but what heatsink are you using? If it is the stock one put a real cooler on it.... or .......... clean the old paste off and install new thermal paste on the cooler..... making sure that all of the pins are securely engaged....

It's probably stock... I just started learning about computers. I would put a real cooler on it if I knew how :/ lol
I don't think the thermal paste is the problem because this computer is less than a week old (someone custom built it)

I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that the custom builder seated the heatsink properly.

I would try to get some other readings, like from the BIOS

My BIOS settings dont list the core temperatures, just lists the CPU at -16 and 2 internal temps at 44 degrees c
