I just built a computer:

p5e deluxe
q9550
4gig ocz 1066
WD 250 HDD
lite-on dvd-rw

Soon as I booted up, the cpu was unknown so I will have to update bio's for sure, but here is my question. The temp reading right now is amazingly high in bios/speedfan but in coretemp it seems normal. I double checked my seating and thermal paste and the heatpipes on the cpu cooler are ice cold. Should I be worried or will the bio's update accurately show the CPU temp since it will be able to detect which cpu its running? Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Did not see a edit button, or I would have used it so sorry for the bump. I had forgotten to mention I am using a zerotherm nirvana nv120 cpu cooler. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6835887011 It is a VERY large and should be far better than the stock intel cooler.

use more thermal compound - when you removed it did have matching patterns on both sides?

My thermal compound was a adequate amount, and was even so I know it was seated evenly.
