im going to buy this stuff for my pc. wondering if you guys could take a look at it and see if they all would work.

GRAPHICS CARD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102719

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817702003

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231122

MOBO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138122

PROCESSOR: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116072

i read one of the user comments on that motherboard, and he said that it wouldnt work on vista.
is this true? because im currently running on Vista - 32bit.
and is there somthing that im spending too much or too little on? thanks.

I would recommend these changes:

COOLER MASTER Real Power Pro RS-650-ACAA-A1 650W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171023
Good PSU for $49.99 after MIR

CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Chan
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145184
$24.99 after MIR is hard to beat for 4 gigs of quality ram!

Consider switching to this board as the $10 bundle savings are neglected by the fact that you will pay around $10 to have the board shipped to you:

GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DS3L
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128345

The MOBO change isn't necessary but you get a better quality board for the same price after the MIR.

Vista 32 should work on the board you have selected but I would recommend upgrading to Vista 64!

ok thanks, but would the ram and the mobo work because the speed standards are different? or does it not matter?

the speed on the mobo is the top speed that could be accepted, if your ram is faster than that it will slow the ram down, if your ram is slower it will run at the ram's speed. In the future you could always upgrade the ram to a larger size and speed, giving you a little more time with the board.

it does not matter.. the new board recommendation by slomo is pretty good.. but still.. if u r going a bit low-end on ur processor, why not get a matching mobo?? and about vista 64.. i know vista64 gives u access to more ram, but i wud say get vista64 when u ACTUALLY GET more ram.. for 4gb, stick with ur current OS and save some cash for now.. u can alwys upgrade later.. depending on ur hardware, it can turn out to be a prob upgrading to vista64..

yes i've hear of overclocking but if he doesnt understand what the number mean, he probably isn't going to be able to oc just yet...the p5q is only rated for 1333 and many people are running 1600, but that doesnt mean someone who is learning how it all fits together and crossing their fingers for it to post will be able to do it. Besides that if hes gonna oc, he can oc the ram as well and boost it then. my original post was to explain the basic principle behind those numers in layman's terms, so i'm sorry cmashwin if i didnt mention every detail in it but i thought basics first, then when he's ready can learn more.
