"Crysis DX10 – performance gains of up to 25% for Single and Crossfire
mode. Performance gains were noticed on all Radeon HD4xxx."

Has anyone personally seen a performance increase in Crysis with 4000 series card? Been thinking about finally picking up Crysis but the insane future-tech required to run it is a huge put off. And we all know how these "performance gains" are sometimes nowhere to be found in real life.

when i get my 4850 repaired I will try 8.12 i heard that now some programs use stream processors for their advantage to make converting videos faster. cool beans if i could try that and my card didnt die ;p

I dont know about crysis, but 8.11, on farcry2, limited me to 1280 on med settings. 8.12 lets me go 1680 on very high with no problems at 50fps+. That is a huge difference.

on COD4, i was already on max setting with 100fps now after 8.12 i am same setting getting 120fps+.

specs:
ga-ex38-ds4
e7200 @ 3.8G
4G pc6400
2 x 3870 CF
win xp sp3 32bit

Quite impressive. How about Warhead, where there has been big, big problems?

So far i got a small bump in 3dmark06 and an extra few fps in warhead. Now my highest playable settings are everything at enthusiast except sound, physics, textures and object detail at gamer (cos my system isnt fast enough or has enough memory to handle this without big loading pauses/jerks). Resolution of 1400x900, no AA, 8xAF, averaging about 30-35fps. Never seems to drop below 25fps, or maybe like 1% of the time it drops that far. I can REALLY recommend picking this driver up. Very smooth apart from the airfield level where my system just cant stream the level data fast enough. Use the same highest playable settings for the original crysis too, except with oject detail hacked to very high (im on XP still) averaging about 25-30fps (Warhead IS FASTER than the original! ramerate doesnt drop in silly places like it does in Crysis 1 either!). Fallout 3 and Farcry 2 seem quite alot better too. got rid of a crashing problem i had with fallout 3.

My specs:

e6300@3.01 ghz
2gb ddr2-800 4-4-4-12 ram @860mhz 5-5-5-15
250gb samsung spinpoint (pretty slow these days)
ASUS P5-B deluxe mobo (965 chipset, old but still good)
Sapphire 4870 512mb (bought it the week it came out :-) )
Windows XP service pack 3.

In short, just pick this driver up, install PROPERLY and away you go.

in warhead my old problems went back. so i decided to go back to 8.11. about the textures not loading fast enough, i think that happens early after you enter the game world, but after 5 seconds everything will be fine, try setting anisotropic filtering to 8x too (via ccc), it might help.

i also had my 4850 posted on a local selling forum. i keep on asking myself how much a masochist this 4850 turned me into, getting bsod's on a daily basis is definitely not healthy. im going back to the greencamp, a 9800gtx+, that should give me a dream holiday instead of aching with every darn deathscreen this 4850 is causing.
