I was curious what would be a good heatsink and fan for a core2 duo e7500 wolfdale 2.93ghz processor. I have never installed a heatsink and fan other than stock and want to know everything i need to properly install it. my cpu runs in the 40s under full load and i want it atleast about 10c cooler or more if possible.

More about : good fan heatsink

Three good options:

- Prolimatech Megahalems + 2xSILVERSTONE FM123
- Thermalright IFX-14 + 2 or 3xSILVERSTONE FM123
- Noctua NH-D14

With any of these ones you will improve the refrigeration a lot.

Anyway, for the 775:

Here is a link to a recent Tom's Hardware article with useful information about 10 popular cpu heatsinks:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/lga-1156-heatsink,2...

I know the article states Intel LGA 1156 heatsinks but just about all of them are also compatible with Intel LGA 1366 cpu's and they typically come with LGA 775 adapters.

Here is a link to a very good web site with more useful information about cpu heatsinks that will help you make an informed decision:

You can use the Google embedded search feature at the web site to find more information about heatsinks for specific cpu sockets.
