Hi there folks

So I bought 8gb DDR2 at 1066 for the my new PC, but I'm having a hard time finding a motherboard that will run 8GB dual channel at 1066 without issues. The first board I got was Asus p5ql-pro, which gave me BSOD after BSOD. I investigated and found out that none of Asus motherboards, at 150$ price range, could run this amount of RAM in dual channel. Actually with this board the only way I got to boot up Vista 64 without problems was using only 4GB in single channel mode.

So my friends, my first question to you would be: any of you know a motherboard that can run 8gb ddr2 1066, without problems, under 175$??

Thank ou all, please help

The problem isnt necessarily the motherboard but the processor that you are pairing with it. I run 8 gigs of G.Skill ram in my Asus M3A32. Although the ram is rated for 1066 I have to run it at 800mhz. This is due to the memory controller on AMD procsessors only supporting 1066 speed in 2 channels. If you want to use all 4 ram banks with an AMD processor you are limited to 800mhz. There are people who have gotten all 4 ram banks running at 1066 but this is more the exception then the norm.

Here is the actual wording:

DDR2 1066*/800
*Due to AMD CPU limitation, DDR2 1066 is supported by AM2+ / AM3 CPU for one DIMM per channel only
