Hey i am looking to buy a new laptop and was wondering which processor i should get. I am looking at the Pentium dual core t3400 and the Core 2 Duo T6400. Is the extra mb of cache worth an extra $100. This notebook will be used to mainly browse the web and MS office junk(sometimes at the same time). If you think both processors or not worth it what do you recommend. Thanks in advanced. I am sorry if this has been discussed before.

Given your intended use, I can't imagine you being able to tell the difference between the two. It'd be one thing if you were talking about single core vs. dual core... but you're mainly just talking about cache. If I'm reading correctly the T6400 even has a slightly lower clock speed... so T3400 it is!

jwl3, thanks for you suggestion but i bought a hp g50-126nr for hella of a price. Best buy had it on one of there weekly adds for $400, it was a steal and i am loving it. I do admit though HP buts a lot of junk software on the thing. They should really start having the option of a stripped down O.S. for people that are not complete idiots when it comes to computers.

I just bought a Gateway T-6345u lappie with a T3400 cpu. I blew off the Vista install and put Win 7 on it. This thing works perfectly.
