I have a good friend that asked me if I would build him a family PC. His 14 year old son wants to play Spore & they will use it for all the other family stuff like music, photos, ect. He wants to keep it under $1K. I want to build something that I can send him home with without him calling me all the time with problems. I want to put a mild OC on the processor so it doesn't bottleneck the GPU. He'll probable buy a 22" monitor. This is the list I've started.

Probable start with an Q6600, maybe an E8400 & a Xig 1283 with the bracket. I already have the MX-2.

Mobo, GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R, not 100% sure on this, he has no plans to upgrade to SLI.

Cheap RAM, can't see spending an extra $50 for 1066, 800 should be fine.

I'll stuff it all in a Antec 300 & pick up an extra 120mm fan for the side.

Vista Home Premium 64-bit of course. Do you guys see anything I should change? I really don't care to go the AMD/ATI route.

I fixed the links I hope. My current system uses Intel/Nvidia & I'm happy & comfortable with it. I considered the P5Q, but don't need Xfire.

so does mine, but i advise on getting the the most you can out of a dollar. However there is no reason to shrink away from a 260 they're nice.

and the links are fixed!
