Ok gang, here's the scoop, i have my PSU and MoBo (listed below) and the PSU has both 4-pin and 8-pin CPU connector.

The MoBo has an 8-pin slot to plug in the 8-pin connector, but it was shipped with a little plastic thing covering 4 of the pins, so right now i have the 4-pin connector plugged in.

My question is, should i take off the little plastic thing and plug in the 8-pin CPU connector? Is there not enough juice going with just the 4-pin?

Thanks.

If the plastic thing was there and factory fitted and the machine is up and running fine, I dont see why you need to plug in the 8pin connector.

That link you gave for your PSU states that both 8 and 4 pin are 12V so it doesnt make any difference voltage wise so all that cover does is gives you the option to use either in case you need a 4 or 8 pin for another device, graphics cards for example...

Splendid

it's not about voltage as such but current (amperage) that can be fed through the wires and foils. And NO, you cant use the eps12V connector to power up anything else, the 8-pin PCIe connector has different pin layout and is keyed differently
