Read/seek noise getting louder?

I knew from reviews that the HDD I have was a bit noisier to begin with, but it almost seems to have gotten louder. The read/seek noises seem to be more noticeable than they were before.

Does this sound bad, or do you think I'm just imagining things?

It's a 1 TB WD Caviar Black.

EDIT: HDD is still running fine as of January 20, 2013.

Western digital has test and diagnostics software available for download. Try Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows from this page:

I would feel fine if it passed this, unless the noise is very severe. Just keep everything backed up - any HDD is like a ticking bomb tied to your data.
  2. Thanks for the link. Passed the quick diagnostic just fine. I might run the extended one later, but I think I'll just go along with the comments in the reviews and assume it's just a louder HDD than others.
