That's what I plan to upgrade to. I was wondering which graphics card I should pair with that, (Under $150), and exactly how much FPS I should expect with this setup in WoW. I know people say WoW isn't very demanding but it is VERY demanding in raids, and especially large cities as there is just SO much activity going on, let alone on max settings.
I was also wondering if that even IS a good setup. My friend recommended it to me, I like the price, and I like the reviews on both the board and processor. Also, I hear the stock fan sucks that comes with the processor so I'd appreciate any suggestions on a fan too. Thank you in advance, really appreciate the help.
*I want to play WoW on MAX settings, 1920x1200 resolution*
Heard the SLI boards are not stable and the SLI don scale wellon those boards...check the reviews of the 780i chipset before buying it...its ur choice...
The best performing SLI boards are the x58 boards...
u can add the 4870 1GB, which should be enuf for the WOW at tat settings...
If u want more power, u can add one more in crossfire...
Note: This mobo doesnt support SLI)
Personally I think tripple SLI is overkill for WOW. Still, your combo is gonna cost $369.99 but then you only want a card that costs less than $150? If that's the case you're spending way too much on the motherboard. Instead look at getting a P45 based board so that you can afford getting two Radeon 4850s (the MSI 4850 is like $110 after mail in rebates at newegg now). The E8400 is good but you may also want to consider an aftermarket cooler so that you can overclock it. A quad CPU would generally be better, but I don't think WOW is optimized for multiple cores. Then again I don't really play WOW so I could be wrong.
