Hello,
1600/1800 speed memory will only work on a ASUS P6T at that speed if it is overclocked, something that I just recently discovered. I'd like to know if there are any motherboards out there that can run 1600/1800 RAM at the stated speed without the need to overclock. Thanks.

Dumb question(s):

I was wondering if you need an aftermarket cooler to enable the XMP profile on the ASUS P6X58D Premium? Or just in general, when you are fine tuning the timings and memory multiplier to get to 1600 mhz, can you get by without the aftermarket cooler?

If you do not plan to O.C. the cpu then the stock cooler will work with the mem. running at full speed. However even a modest costing aftermarket will outperform the stock cooler. So even if you are planning to O.C. I would get a non stock cooler.

Why does the ASUS P6X58D QVL have so few memory modules that will work at 12 GB, all 6 DIMMS full? And if a specific memory module isn't listed on the QVL, is it a sure bet that they won't work with the board?
