8600GT 256MB not enough for GTAIV?

My game is gets slows down(i mean lowFps) every 10secs and it plays on 640*480res. When i try to increases the res or anything else from graphics menu it says resources low. Apparently my 235MBs of card arent enough.
Ram is 2Gig. can anyone please tell me, is it the memory of Video card or physical memory of PC which causes game to 'slow down'?

GTA IV seem to be really badle optimized ... this really dont help your 8600gt, that is way far from a Gaming card

I wonder why the 8600GT is so hated. It's not as bad as you guys make it out to be..I have played Oblivion, Fallout 3, COD4, WoW, all on 1600x1050 res, settings fairly high, on 30-40 FPS on avg.

Anyway, its not the 8600GT's fault that it can't run GTA4. The fault is on Rockstar and their lazy-ass excuse of a port.

A cheap 8800gt have 4 times the fill rate and twice the Mem bandwith.

I had a 8600GTS and yes i played Lotta game with it, i slied it later. passed from 5k 3dmark06 to 9.5k. NOT bad for two "mid range" card. Now i have a 9800GTX+ and its a complete now way of gaming, 14500pts.

+ now the 9800gt is soo cheap ... or even a 9600gt is just way better.
