got about $200 cdn to spend on a new video card, narrowed it down to ati 4850. Which one should i choose, the asus is oc to 680mhz and uses ddr3 memory while radeon is 625mhz and uses gddr5 memory, both are 512megs.

Thanks

by radeon i'm assuming you're referring to the 4870 since it's the only card i know of using gddr5. saying radeon narrows it down to about a bagillion cards btw. so if you're asking which one between the 4850 and the 4870, uh no-brainer, the 4870.

"ati radeon" is the company that makes the chips and their brand name . The asus is also an ati radeon 4850 .

IMO the best 4850 is the HIS with a large two slot cooler that blows hot air out the back of the case .
The worst 4850 is any of the original ati design which has a single slot cooler . These are noisy and run hot .
Asus is a quality brand .

Didn't see the cooler on the first link, but Asus' cooling solution looks good. That is always something important to consider, IMO.
