Just got the new pc today, attached to the front of the case is a fan controller that digitally displays the CPU, GPU, HDD, temps. I also downloaded SPEEDFAN to monitor the systems core temps and other components. I need to know what is an acceptable range both at idle and under load for it to stay at? Keep in mind i have an exteme OC of 30% amounting to about 3.6ghz CPU. Here the specs:

CPU: i7860 @ 2.8ghz overclocked to about 3.6ghz
GPU: Ati radeon 5850
MOBO: gigabyte p-55A ud3 3.0
HDD: 1TB raid-0(500gbX2)
RAM: 4gb (2gbX2) ddr3 @ 1600mhz
22" asus monitor

Well, I won't comment on the extreme part but just keep the cpu cores under 70c (100% load, OCCT IBT,Prime95) and you won't have any problems.

Idle doesn't really matter.. as RJR said about 70c at load is good. You will want to load it with prime 95 i like to keep it under 75c load but it is all personal preference. Apparently RJR like it colder than me. XD

As RJR was eluding to, 30% isnt very extreme. Check some of the guys out in the overclocking club (link located in my sig).

3.6 is a rather modest OC mate, i hate to say.

as the other guys said though, temps below 70c are fine. as long as you aren't going to far above that thnr chip shoudl have a pretty good lifespan.

I don't understand why your sorry it's only 30% at 3.6. "extreme OC" is what cyber power calls it. I'm not a retard that's the way I wanted it, to avoid any problems. I have seen wat it can do and that's plenty. As for the temp answers thanks...

no need to get hostile. no one was calling you retarded, simply pointing out that your chip has much more OC headroom. it doesn't take an idiot to not realize that, we were simply trying to help.
