My friend is having problems with his computer I sold to him last year. The system will turn on all the fans but there is no post code or screen. So he thinks it's either the CPU, PSU, or Motherboard. The computer is about 3-4years old and was never overclocked past any long time. Maby 24 ours so I could see what it could do but that was it. It was never overclocked pasted 2 days. So my question is what could be the problem?

BFG Nforce 4 Ultra motherboard socket 939
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200
2GB DDR ram
Evga 8600 GTS graphics card
MSI 460 watt PSU

I think if the CPU was gone there would be a beeping code. So That may or may not be it. I said if he replaced the motherboard he might as well upgrade to a newer build but is short on cash.

Please move this topic if it is in the wrong place.

PSU's and motherboards suffer from age way before CPU's. Try a spare PSU if possible. Not to mention I cant believe any motherboard made by BFG has lasted 3-4 years, that its a litteral miracle. Their 600i boards were some of the worse pieces of PC hardware ever sold.
