Hi there,
I've noticed as of late that my factory superclocked EVGA 8800GT has been running pretty hot during a game that I picked up recently, Lord of the rings online. On default fan speed the temperature runs at 78C+ and out of game in the high 60's. I get quite a bit of stuttering and hitching in game, and I'm wondering if this has anything to do with it.
My friend who plays with me has a 8800GTS (in an old case with only 2 fans) and says his temps are low 50's idle and high 50's in game (he is running on the same graphics settings in game--he's also using default GPU fan speed), which worries me. My computer is housed in an Antec 900 (4 fans) and I cranked up the fans to med speed in there and it hasn't made a difference in my temps.
I'm really no good with this technical computer stuff, and am at a bit of a loss as to why my GPU temperature is so high. I dled EVGA precision and turned up the fans to 50% which seems to be highest threshold before I start hearing the very loud fan. This helped the temp, but it still doesn't make sense to me why my temps are so much higher than my friends on default fan speed. Can anyone help me shed some light on this? What can I do to fix this?
Also, my CPU temps range from 32-42C, not sure if that makes any difference but just thought I'd throw it out there.
Here is my dxdiag

Didnt really look at all the information. My 8800gt is running at 100C under load and around 75 idle. Wont recommend it, but it runs perfectly fine. 78 under load is normal for a gpu.
My 8800GT OC runs idle in the 50s and in the mid 70s at load (it will hit the 80s in a very warm room). Your temps aren't unusual and the 8800GT is built to run at those temps. Just make sure it's clean, blow out any dust bunnies that might be hanging out in there.
I have XFX Alpha Dog edition of the 8800 GT in a not so well ventilated case and idle temps are 57-58 C and load about 78-80 C. I don't think your temps are unusual.
A single-slot 8800GT normally runs around 70C under load. Nothing to worry about, just keep an eye on the temps and your case clean.

That's just about right on.

Under what load?
