What graphics card should I get? I don't mind any costs it can be preferably 1 graphics card but will go for likes of 2xcheap graphics cards. My resolution an monitor are at 24 Inch Wide TFT Silver/Black 1920 x1200 8MS screen. I will also be getting 8400 CPU (overclocking etc) just what should I go for.

I’m obliviously thinking of 1 4870x2 or 1 GTx280 but would 2x4850 also be better than it etc

Which one is more future proof as well because I don't want to fork out too much money in net 1.5-2 years?

Do you also think I should get a quad core instead but for the same price as 8400 not sure what’s the same is. You can tell I’m new to this

between the three you mentioned definitely get the 4870 x2, as it beats the gtx 280 hands-down and can't even be compared to dual 4850's since it is equivalent to 2 4870's. (I envy you for being able to afford any of those.)

I would go with 1 gtx280...and get a sli motherboard so you can pick a second one up later. the 4870x2 will suffer if the game is not coded for crossfire. and 1 gtx280 will beat 1 4870 (if crossfore isn't supported then the 4870x2 just becomes a 4870 1gb).

but I'm not a fan of 2 gpu's on one card...

you knock the 4870x2 for crossfire and then go on to give bad advice, on buying an sli motherboard, get a grip

a single 4870 (or gtx260+) is more than enough for now. Save your money for when you'll actually see the difference.

For 1920 res. the best you can have is the 4870X2 ( I game at this res, and own an X2) But, what do you NEED for 1920? Prolly just a 4870 1GB would be fine, also, the 4850X2 is a pretty sweet card, and performs close to the 4870X2.

is a 260 also good for 1920?

You should get a single 4870. Later on you could go crossire maybe in the future games will be better coded for crossfire.

Yes, the 260 (216) is also good. It made a comeback recently and definitely warrants consideration.

For 1920x1200 i stronly recommend the HD 4870X2,i have a 24" LCD with the same res and a HD 4870X2 and i'm very satisfied :)

HD 4870X2 outperforms Nvidia GTX 280 in most games especially in high resolutions like this.

thanks guys for replys i might get the 260 now then upgrade with another later but its so tempting to get 4870x2 then crossfire that in future that will be the beast but probebly compatablilty problems
