Thanks to some kind people on this forum, I have decided to get an HD 4850 512mb, as it is a vast improvement on my 8600 GTS 256mb. I found this one on Newegg that is only $129 because of the rebates. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814121272

Most of the complaints about the card on there are easily fixed by getting the drivers online rather than using the CD; things like that. So, it seems to be a reasonably good card, especially at that price. (Plus, my case has plenty of room for the large size of the thing as well.)

My only concern is something I read somewhere about ViewSonic monitors not working correctly with HD 4850's. I have a ViewSonic monitor, and, though it seems to be a Vista-related problem, and I'm running XP, I still don't want to worry about getting it. Has anyone heard about this ViewSonic/HD 4850 problem? Anyone experience it first hand? Thanks in advance!

I do not know if there are any problems between viewsonic monitors and the HD4850 but I have that card and it's amazing. It stays cool and is a good overclocker.
