This is my review of the 9600 GT:

A couple days before Black Friday, I saw an EVGA 9600 GT dual slot edition on sale at Newegg for $70 after a $20 rebate. I decided to buy it as an upgrade from my 7600 GT. I'm pretty sure I got the best price/performance ratio possible on the market right now, especially since I game on a 19" at 1280x1024.

So far, I've maxed out every game I have with 60+ FPS, which I thought was unheard of for $70. This includes Bioshock, FEAR, Splinter Cell Double Agent, NFS Carbon, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, Battlefield 2, and several other Shooters. Also, from benchmarks, it seems that I can max out many newer games that I plan to get, like Call of Duty 4-5 and NFS.

I would recommend this card to anybody.

Any comments?

yeap, i upgraded from a 7600GS (factory overclocked Sonic with DDR3 instead of DDR2, and i OC'd it 50% from there ) and e4400 @ 2.66 to a MSI 9600GT and e5200 @ 3.6-3.7. haven't regretted it. running crysis on High with Natural Mod and 8x AA in the early jungle levels... have to turn it down in the alien levels though.

again, i recommend it to anyone. it's in a price point untouched by ATI. Which is nice, considering they have now competed at every other price point...

I bought the 9600GT for my HTPC back when it first came out; after a rebate it probably came out to about $140 - $150. The one I bought is passively cooled, so it was probably a little more expensive than the average 9600GT.

I don't really use my HTPC to play games other than Galactic Civilization II (my primary PC is my gaming machine). I recently installed Fallout 3 just to check it out. It seems to run fine @ 1280 x 1024 with medium settings. Game play may have been just slight choppy here and there, but I was also encoding videos while playing FO3.
