Monitor display prblm in vista

hi,
in my ps screen nowdays user mode(which is used 2 set monitor display) small window comes & goes automatically. why does it happen??.can u help me.i m using vista.plz help me.

u may be trying to run the system and monitor in a resolution or refresh rate that is not supported by the monitor.

without what it specifically says and the monitor brand and size, i can not give u a better responce.
