Which card for 1440x900

Hi Guys,

I suppose to buy 19inch monitor.i will support 1440x900 res.

Can you recommend best graphic card for that resolution ?

Personally if i was setting up a system with that size screen i would be looking at either a HD4850 or a 9800 GTX or GTX+
They are of similar performance and will easily handle that resolution.

You'd be just fine with the above suggestions. You won't have many issues running either card at that resolution.

The now 3 year old 8800GT (or 9800GT, same card) will do that resolution, with AA enabled, perfectly fine in nearly all games you play (the exceptionally piss poor coded Crysis being the kind of game it won't do that with AA enabled, but you can play it perfectly find at med/high details at that resolution in Crysis with no AA just fine!).

The HD4850 will certainly do the job.

Higher memory cards (1gig for example) and faster cards will be more appropriate if you want to turn on advanced things like AA and AF and higher quality textures (if available in the game).

But at that resolution, nearly any modern card will do it perfectly well.

$100 for a 9800GT
$130 for an HD4850

If you spend more than that, you might as well look at the GTX260 and HD4870 as they're both in the $200 range now.

i would recommend a 1GB card so you can have filters. newegg has a 1GB 9800GTX+ that i think would best suit you. its the EVGA 1GB 9800GTX+, and it only requires 1 six-pin power connector. it may be over $200 but if you dont plan on buying a new screen for a while the 1GB is worth it here's the link,

excelent suggestions. but the 8800gt isnt three years old yet since it came out in mid 2007. i would probably recomend the 4850 over the 8800gt since it handles the special eye candy options such as AA and AF alot better. mack sure to get a dual slot cooler for the 4850 though. i recomend the ICEQ4 cooling design by HIS.
