I'm thinking of purchasing a UPS. I believe most if not all also include surge protection. My modem, router, pc and monitor are already plugged into a surge protector. Can I just plug the SP into the UPS or can the components be plugged into the UPS and then plug the UPS into the SP? Thank You!

Generally most UPS makers recommend against using a surge protectors on either side of the ups, but i see no reason why putting the surge protector in front would do any harm. Many surge bars do NOT like the power coming out of the ups on battery power(Many UPS's put out a modified square wave[they call it a modified sine wave or simulated sine wave], this is not going to hurt the computer in short term, but you do not want to run systems long term on this kind of power. A more expensive unit will make perfect sine wave power and are good for extended runs). That said, i would put it on the incoming power.
