Those are the most pathetic benchmarks I've seen in awhile! Are you trying to tell me that the GTX 295 is TWICE as fast as a 4870 X2?! Are you telling me that 1 GTX 295 (GTX 260 GX2) blows away 2 GTX 280s?! Totally BS!

I hope the GTX 295 performs well, but like what I said about the GTX 2xx series, it wont come even close to these pre-release benchmarks.

More like pre-release FUD.

hotfuzz, although what you claim is probably true (faster, less consumption), referencing the 4870x2 in the thread title is sure to be a fire starter.

Hell I doubt it will be faster. I bet it will be like a GTX 260 216/4870 1GB comparison, maybe the GTX 295 will do better, but then ATI will just come out with a better cooler and increase the speeds on the 4870 X2 to match. Either way, this is kind of useless. I am excited for the GTX 300 though, hopefully it will get close to the 4870 X2 or even beat it! A single card solution like that would be a true step in the right direction.

Did any one else notice that the benchmarks included Mirror's Edge... which hasn't been release yet. (for the PC)
Also, though I am an ATI fan, this card will likely be faster, as newer drivers have pushed the GTX 260 216 just ahead of the 4870 1gb. (from what I have scene) But not by huge amounts. In a few games, it was far ahead, but most were small differences, so I would expect to see the same between the 4870x2, and GTX295

remember the 4870 benchmarks? Doubling the 9800 GX2...this graph looks the same LOL just 295 and 4870 X2 instead in the names:p

I'll believe it when I see it...for now, both cards will be pretty much on par.

I'm more interested in seeing which is cheaper.

not interested in the dual gpu in one package, heat monster garbage. "yay look its the fastest and can heat this small room in the winter!"

sometimes it works, other times it doesn.t

but I prefer single GPU. In all honesty I'm barely in Tri sli. Its just in single GPU or dual GPU. Rarely even go tri:)

I'm not claiming anything, i just posted a link. I'm by no mean an Nvidia boy so my intention here is not to start a fire.

I know, I didn't mean to imply you were intentionally trying to start a fire. Just noting that the thread title is a little dangerous; I've seen many an innocent thread go down in flames here at THG :)

As for the GTX295, last I heard it will be two 55nm GTX260s with fully functional shader cores. I haven't seen anything reliable on clockspeeds or memory capacities.
