Hi there,

Could you critique this build so far? Is it overkill? Do I have a bad part in there? I'm building something I hope will be pretty smokin fast.

I'd also love advice on what type of power source to go with - as well as if I should upgrade from the stock CPU cooler.

Please note I intend to crossfire the GPU and go with 4 GB memory.

Cheers.

You're much better off getting a 2x2GB setup instead of 4x1. It's easier on the motherboard and doesn't cut off your upgrade path. This RAM is great:

This PSU would be overkill even with crossfire, but it's a good price on a great PSU.

What resolution will you be gaming at?

Could even get away with using a P45 board, which will cut the crossfire channels to x8 which lowers the head room the cards have, but still shouldn't exceed with two 4850's. This will leave you a few bucks in your hand. If you plan on overclocking however that is a pretty good overclocking board. That would be the only reason I say to get that board vs some of the cheaper x48 and p45 boards out there.

The PSU reccomended eariler is a good buy ^1+
