Hello to all! Planning to build my first PC here, and I'm looking at either a Core i7 920 or a Phenom II x4 940. With that, I plan to start off with 6GB DDR3-1600 RAM right off the bat.
However, I thought selecting a RAM was just picking your favorite brand (Corsair or Kingston?) and get on with it. Apparently, there's more here than meets the eye. Reading a review here at Tom's, I came across figures like "8-8-8-24"... what does that mean?
What should I be looking for in my RAM modules? I have a meager budget of USD100-120 for the RAM, so nothing exotic here.
Thanks in advance for your patience with my newbie-ness.
