Hello,

Got a problem. I have 2 floppys with data on them which I MUST retrieve to place on a flash drive. My other disks work fine, and yet for these two I get a disk not formatted indication. One disk causes the drive to engage, but nothing pulls up. the other gets no noise coming from the drive. Can this data be recovered/or can these disks be salvaged? Or is it a total loss?

It depends on what type of data is on the floppies. If it is text you can get it by making a raw image (search for free floppy disk image software) and load the image into Notepad.

Remember these wise words from 20 years ago (paraphrased, author unknown): Floppies are a flimsy piece of plastic covered with rust; NEVER trust them with important data.
