Alright

My old headset is knackered and i'm looking at the following:

SpeedLink Medusa 5.1 ProGamer Edition Surround Sound Headset

I'm going to stick with the on board sound (Asus P5Q Pro) just to see what its like, but may upgrade the sound card later.

I have two questions:

Are these decent headphones or can i get anything better for a similar price?
The onboard sound supports 6 and 8 channels. Am I correct in thinking that 5.1 surround sound and 6 channels are the same thing?

5.1 and 6 channel are diffrent:

5.1: 5 sound output channels + Bass
6.0: 6 sound channels without Bass

Don't know about that particular headset; remember the onboard may or may not limit what it can do anyway.
