P.C. specs:
MOBO; ASUS M3N78-EM AM2+Geforce 8300
CPU; AMD A64x2 7750 2.7 AM2
MEM; 2 1g cruc bl 12864AA 1066
PSU; Raidmax Hybrid2 RX 530SS

I am thinking about adding a 9800GTX+ ddr3 512mb card

Will the PSU I have work? Should I look at another card? I do not understand the amp rating and the 12V rails.

The 4870 would be a better choice with your raidmax power supply. For the 9800gtx, I recommend a corsair, seasonic, enermax, or pc power and cooling. For example, newegg has a corsair 650w for $99.99 before rebate with 51 amps on a single 12v rail, more than enough for the 9800gtx. Whatever you do, don't buy a cheaper brand power supply just because it claims to have 600-700 watts. Cheaper brands die under load, or may not even post.

The 4870 uses more power than 9800GTX+. And 650W is overkill.

The HD4850 performs about the same and is usually cheaper.

The PSU will probably work, but I would highly recommend getting a good quality one instead. Antec Earthwatts 500, Corsair VX550, Seasonic S12II 500.
