Corrupt Hard drive - chkdsk wont fix

SOme part of a hard drive got corrupt. At times I can see the files on it, but I cannot recover them at all.

Chkdsk freezes at test 2 of 3, 0% after about 1 hr of working

Is there a software out there that can repair the drive enough to recover the data or software to copy from a corrupt drive?

  1. knopix it is a linux based os that can work from a CD rom... if it can not fix the issue it will give you a chance to get the data off of the disk.
  2. Go to the manufacturer's website, and download their diagnostic/repair tool. It may have better success than the chkdsk.
