AMD FM1 and AM3+

Hi
I recently bought an Asus AMD3+ mobo. In looking for the socket I happened to buy a CPU which on delivery I discovered was FM1 socket.
Now I don't know if the two are compatible before I open the socket box.

Of the two different sockets the AM3+ supports the more powerful CPU. If you really, really want an integrated graphics core, then go with socket FM1. Just be advised that Llano APUs have weaker CPU cores, and socket FM1 is basically dead, no new Llano APUs will be released for it.

Llano's successor is Trinity, but Trinity will be socket FM2.

Thanks guys. Your replies have been very informative. Fortunately I noticed it before I opened and have initiated the returned procedures online. The retailer (eBuyer) has accepted the return and will be sending a compatible one.

Once again, thanks.
