I am building a new AMD based system which CPU do i go with. right now i have http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819103471

Would this be the best. I am using the PC for graphics rendering and programing. I am in school for game software development! for the start i will be using a single graphics card then later when i have the cash i want to do SLI. If you could also suggest a MOBO for me!

I heard the new Phenom processors have many improvements over the previous models, I believe the socket is AM3. Take a look at those, and check google for benchmarks if you're interested. :-)

Thats a good CPU for the money right now if you want quad core. Consider the 720BE if you want to save some money. The Asus 790FX ($200) is a good board and it'll be ready for a second 48xx series video card when you add one down the road.

you should look into the socket AM3 phenom II's. the benchmarks are showing that amd is finally producing some decent products. i just ordered a phenom x3 710 which is faster in benchmarks than the 920. it's also a bit cheaper.
