Hi, I'm looking to build my own computer. These are some of the components I've been looking at:

- CPU : Athlon 64 X2 Dc 5200+ AM2 2.7GHZ 1MB 65NM 65W 2000MHZ

- Motherboard : Biostar GeForce 8100 Socket AM2 mATX Motherboard

- Memory : at least 2GB

- Hard drive : Seagate 120GB

- Video Card : NVIDIA GeFORCE 8800 GT OC 512mb gddr3 PCIe

- Operating System : Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic

I was wondering if this would work, like compatibility wise. and how big of a power supply would i need (it will be used for light gaming)? And what kind of case would it fit it? What would be a decent, not expensive, cooling system?

Thanks!

I would recommend getting 2x 2GB of RAM since even value DDR2 800 will only cost you $40. For a PSU any decent 400W PSU will do the job, but the PC Power and Cooling 500W for $75 on newegg is what most people will recommend for a good affordable PSU.

Are you buying locally or online? Make sure you get at least an AM2+ board.

What is your price range you are looking to spend on your new computer build?

The AM2+ is the next version of the AM2.. It supports the Phenom chips..
The AM2+ board would only be good, if you are wanting to upgrade in the future..

To be honest tho, I hate to say it, but the CPU you have chosen isn't very gamer friendly....
I have an AM2 AMD5600+ paired with an 8800GT 512meg, and it plays ok, but it pales in comparision to my E8500 with my 8800GT...

When you say lite gaming.. What are your style of games, you wish to play??
