I have a wireless network -- router and cable modem on first floor, 2 PCs and 2 Macs on 2nd floor all networked wirelessly. I have added another PC running XP -- I want to run a cable from Nic card on it to the Nic card on one of my PCs in order to add it to the network -- instead of purchasing another wireless card for it. Is this possible? Can I run a network which combines wireless and nic card on the same computer? I haven't been successful so far in getting this to work. My original PC "sees" the new PC, however I can't access it. And will I be able to access the internet on the new PC "through" the nic connection on the older PC? Confused yet? Thanks.
UPDATE: I see that my first problem may be that I need a crossover cable to properly connect them -- I'm not sure the cable I have is the correct one.

Internet sharing - you're all set. No need for 2 connections from each device/pc. Either wired or wireless. The OS isn't smart enough to load balance. Server OSes probably can. Network OSes most def. The last is usually headless - no monitor - administrated through a network (intra/extra-net/vpn).
File sharing - you just need to turn on Windows XP file sharing. Yes, mac can see 'em.
