Here are my current parts that I have bought...I am waiting on more specials to arise before/after BF. I need help w/ selecting the rest of my parts such as HD, PSU, Tower Case, cooling fans, etc. This is my 1st build and would like to keep it budget friendly, so I need to know what type of power supply, casing, tips, etc. Any tips or hints are greatly appreciated!!Thanks for your help!

Thanks guys for the info...I am thinking the Antec case w/ PSU will do and maybe the WD HD as well. Is the graphics card on my CPU suitable or should I look at getting another graphics card. I would like to play Flight Simulator X in about 30fps if possible on the highest settings. Any help w/ this?

:o

You'll need a quad core CPU and a serious graphics card to do that. Maybe you can pull it off at a low resolution... say something like this:

You'll need quite a beefy system to get Flight Simulator X at 30 fps. You should get a dedicated GPU if your going to do some decent gaming. Did you have a budget for the parts you need?

:non: Flight Simulator is a pain, so you're probably going to need to spend alot more money to play it on max settings. You may want to take a look at this article

http://www.tomshardware.com/review [...] 964-6.html

and if you look at the results it would seem that the test is CPU limited even with an Intel 6850 which is the ol quad at 3.0GHz. If you're looking at a budget card then go with a Radeon 4850 or 4830 or an nVidia 9800 series card if you can find it at a good price that fits your budget. With that, you can play it at pretty decent settings, but probably not max.

$75 or less...I know that isn't much, but there are some really good 512mb DDR2 cards out there, maybe they can't play FSX at 30fps, but I am just a casual gamer so something around that price should suffice.

Thanks!

Great article on FSX! Thanks, that will help me decide on a nice GPU.

The 3870 on the charts is close to a 4670 GPU, so keep that in mind when looking for deals.
Comparison of a few 3870 cards. They are older cards by todays standards, but are decent GPU's by themselves.

Comparison of several 4670 GPU's. They are about 10-20% cheaper and don't require any additional PSU power to run them.

See image below of the 6 pin PCI-e power connector that the 3870 GPU requires to run. I have used a 9600gt GPU to show you what the 6 pin PCI-e power connector looks like. If you get the Antec Sonata III case your covered, because the PSU has the necessary 6 pin PCI-e power connector!!

Yep, but he'll still need to get a PSU too, so the $75 deal for the Antec Sonata III case/PSU combo will be hard to beat, unless they offer it cheaper on BF.

I have this ATI Radeon X800XT graphics card laying around w/ a 300w PSU. Would it be wise to install this graphics card and PSU or keep the graphics card that's on the mob?
