Hard Drive Light

I have two DVD drives E & F. When I open the E drive the hard disk light goes on and does not shut off until I turn the mnachine off. The E drive appears to still work but not as fast as before.

Does any of your DVD drives share an IDE channel as your HDD's ?? if so this can cause performance problems. However HDD's lights often show activity even when the PC is sitting idle.
