Hi,

I would like to know if my current power supply can handle a 9600GT card which draws 95w max.....I currenty have a FSP Saga 400watt with these current ratings:

+3.3V@22A, +5V@21A, +12V1@18A, +12V2@16A, -12V@0.3A, +5VSB@2A

The cards website says it needs a 400 watt with a +12v and a current rating of 26amps.....not sure if I combine the+12V1 and the +12V2 which would be more then 26amps.

I onlly have a AMD Athlon X2 5200+ one Sata hard drive, one DVDRW drive and 2 stocks of DDR2 in the case.

Thanks,

Mike

Look on the label for the "Max Combined Power" for the +12V1 and +12V2. Divide that wattage number by 12 and that's your +12V amperage.
Since you're not maxing out your CPU and other +12V power draw components you should have enough power.

I just read the label and it says 276w for the 12volt....which come out 23amps.....3 less then what the card recommends as minimum.

Thanks for the reply

Your label probably looks like this? I saw that you mentioned "+12V1@18A, +12V2@16A"

You should also note that the total power rating is 350watts
with a peak power of 400watts. So the model number is misleading even if the label is correct.

Thats the one WR2,,,,do you think it will get the job done or do I need to upgrade.

I did remember I have a new Ultra 500 watt home that I basically got for free...it was one of those where it cost me $40 and I got a $40 rebate. I have to check the label on that one.

I would use the FSP, the gpu manufacturer's claim for required power are somewhat over-inflated to ensure compatibility and reliability. The high wattage race for PSU's has gotten out of control for bugdet gamer rigs.
