BTW IM UPGRADING THE POWER SUPPLY SO DONT WORRY ABOUT THAT. ALSO, The Inspiron 531 uses a ASUS M2N61-AX motherboard.

just measure the inside of your case where the pcie x16 slot is from the back to wherever it stops, if you have 10 inches, i think you will be fine

i also found some pictures of someone who installed a 9800 GT on their inspiron 531.
i guess you could use this for some type of comparison?

i did understand that. but thats only for length. what about the width of the card? will the fan on the card obstruct it from fitting?

you should be fine. if that pic is accuate, you will barley miss the ram and the only thing you should worry about is if you have something in your 1x slot

As long as you have nothing beefy in the slot below the card your good to go.

Hello All,

I have a problem and I need a answer. I have a PowerSpec 6500 Model with AMD Athlon x2 64 with 2GB of RAM, and running Vista Ultimate. I just bought a XFX Radeon HD 4830 PCI-E but when I updated the new drivers my PC runs/loads so slow but when I took the video card out, things change my PC ran quick. Can someone help please!!

It should work... just make sure you don't block any SATA headers with that heat sink.
