Last year for a cheap build i used an overclocked e2160, gigabyte p35 board, 9600gt and love it. I do a lil gaming and use it for browsing and such. Fast forward to the present.. I'm building a rig for a buddy who will primarily use it for browsing, watching movies and that's about it, so i thought i'd build something similar. Is oc'ing a 2180 still worth it? Am i better off with a newer processor? What gfx card would be best for hi-res video? I should note that he's on a tight budget and he will not use it for games. Any build ideas would be greatly appreciated. thx!

Could save a bit more in some places, or a little more for an upgrade in others. The graphic card is probably more then he needs. A bit over $500 including the OS.

+1 to all of dirtmountian's recommendations.

One thing I would change, though, is the RAM.
2Gb for $21 is decent but the egg is currently offering 4Gb (2x2Gb) of DDR2 800 for $14.99 after MIR.

Other than that, it is a great build!
