hi

im about to purchase the following components and just want to double check that they're all compatible?

Asus Intel P5SD2-VM All-In-One Motherboard - Socket 775
GeCube ATi Radeon HD3650 - 1GB - PCI-E
Intel Pentium E5200 CPU - Dual Core - Socket 775
iSonic 2003 ATX Chassis - 300w PSU
Kingston ValueRam Memory - DDR2-667MHz - 2GB
LG W2252WTQ-PF 22 inch Wide Screen LCD Monitor
Samsung SH-S223 Super-Multi DVD Writer
Seagate Barracuda HDD - SATA-300 - 16MB Cache - NCQ - 250GB

thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to the fourms!

NO, your components are not compatible!
Your chosen motherboard does not support 45nm CPU's (or any quad core for that matter)!
SIS and VIA based motherboards are terrible and should be avoided.
You should look into an Intel P35, P33, P45 or P43 based motherboard.

The rest of the system looks like it is not optimal either.

You do not need a low end GPU with 1Gb of memory!
The extra $ would be better spend on a better 512Mb GPU or elsewhere.

As I am assuming you are planning on overclocking your E5200, value DDR2 667 RAM is not a good choice.
You need to look into some quality DDR2 800 which can be had very cheaply right now.

I would highly recommend against using a junker 300w PSU.
They are prone to frying and can easily take other components with them.

Please post what you need your system to do, your budget and your perferd site for purchasing parts.
With the proper information, we will be happy to help you get a decent build in your budget.

-I doubt that MB would recognize a Wolfdale CPU. It's a very poor value.

NEVER buy a no-name power supply in a cheap case.

The 1Gb version of that video card isn't going to give you any improvement over 512MB.

Here's what you do:
Sapphire 4670 80.00
E5200 76.00
Gigabyte P43 board 80.00
2GB OCZ 1.8V 800Mhz 24.00
Antec Sonata with EA500 Antec PSU 75.00
ASUS 22" monitor 150.00
Hitachi 320GB 50.00
DVD burner 24.00

That comes to US $560.00 before rebates.

If you are not in the US, look for something similar.

thanks for the replies!

im from south africa so i dont have as much range as you guys might,or the cashflow :( , however i've relooked at it and come up with the following:

Cooler Master Elite 340 Chassis - 350w PSU (THERMAL MASTER)
Gigabyte ATi Radeon HD3650 - 512MB - PCI-E
Gigabyte Intel GA-G31M-S2L Motherboard - Socket 775
Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 CPU - Dual Core - Socket 775
LG W2234S-BN 22 inch Wide Screen LCD Monitor
OCZ Platinum XTC Memory - DDR2-800MHz - 2GB
Samsung HDD - SATA-300 - 8MB Cache - 200GB (not sure if i can trust a samsung hd tho)
Samsung SH-S223 Super-Multi DVD Writer

That is a definite step in the right direction!

I am still worried about that PSU, however.
Low quality PSU's never output as much power as they claim and are prone to failing.
When failing, there is a good chance it will surge and fry your system.
Perhaps you could switch the CPU back to an E5200 (which is better for overclocking with anyways) and upgrade to an Anted Earthwatts 380w PSU. If that particular one is not available to you, try to locate a Corsair, PCP&C, Seasonic, Enermax or Antec Earthwatts PSU.

The motherboard, while hardly high end, is worlds above your initial choice and the same goes for the RAM!
Do not forget to add an aftermarket CPU cooler into the fray if you can afford it.
An Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro, Xigmatech 1283 or Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer would all be good value choices.

Yep, the only big problem is the PSU. Antec markets their cases all over the world, and usually bundle a few with good PSUs.

I don't pretend to know anything about SA, but a high quality energy efficient PSU will actually save you money in a year, if you pay for electricity.

haha. yea antec is quite scarce here and its not that easy to find a case bundled with a PSU >= 400W. so im gonna end up buying them seperately, which end up more expensive :(

......oh, and electricity is the last of my worries.
