I have been recommended by someone here on the forms to buy a 4850x2...On youtube I have seen many people with not so great comps max Crysis with only 1 4850...

I wondering which will perform better on a performance/budget kind of deal.

I could spend the extra 200-300$ on a keyboard mouse and lots of other stuff

Examples

Note the above video.. The guys comp sucks!

As you can see there are plenty examples of the 4850 running Crysis High-Maxed

My question is should I spend the extra 200$ on the 4850 x2 (Note: It doesnt even have a vent)

THANKS GUYS

2X 4850's would be about $80 cheaper and would make it a way better deal then the 4850X2.
A 4850 is a really nice card but an a 4850X2 is a great card and not a bad deal, depending on how bad you can miss the extra money but I would say it is worth it.

the 4870 1GB is also a nice card but for that money you would be better of spending 30_40 more and get dual 4850's.

what mobo do you have by the way?

Its a $100 difference between the 1gb 4870 and a 4850x2. The 4870 actually outperforms the 4850x2 in certain games otherwise the 4850x2 has about a 5-10% performance gain on the 4870.

You have to compare the price of two 1gb 4850s if your comparing the price to a 4850x2 as it comes with 2gb of ram. Two 512mb 4850s will not have the same performance as a single 4850x2 due to the difference in ram.

Save yourself the $100 and go with the 1gb 4870. I am pretty sure that benchmark is using the 512mb version of the 4870.

everyone ceased to ask, what resolution are you playing at? getting a more expensive card won't necessarily boost your performance, especially if your playing at a resolution of like 1280x1024

Well taking into consideration the fact you have a crossfire capable motherboard, its probably safer to go the route of ATI to leave your future upgrade options open.

Well, on a 19", stick with a single 4850.

That is true If crysis is the game you mainly play a nvidia card might be a good option since crysis is optimized for nvidia.

and eklipz330 made a good point i didn,t even think about asking it since nowa days alot of people play at 1650X1080.

but if you're playing at 1280x 1024 a 4870 or a 4850X2 is overkill a single 4850 would be good enough.

Just noticed i have the res wrong:p 1650X1080 instead of 1680X1050:p

but if you do play at thar res i would first recommend 2 4850's in crossfire since it's alot cheaper then a 4850X2
then I would recommend a 4850X2 and then a 4850 or a 4870.

I have both 2 4850 in crossfire and a 4870 1GB and the first system is better then the second and since 2 4850's cost alittle more than a single 4870 1Gb and because of that I would recommend a 4850 crossfire or a single over a 4870 1Gb because it's just more bang for your buck.

no they are 512mb they 1gb 4850 is not worth it they your better of getting a 4870 512MB.

Now I would recommend ati over nvidia they give you a better bang for the buck. but if crysis is one of the few game you play and maybe unreal then a nvidia might be a good choice.

ok on customer reviews on GTX 280

Pros: This is a VERY snappy card. It is indeed the card of the future. The build quality cannot be matched; the card is encased in a metal casing to protect it, which is nice when installing. It is super fast, and will annihilate anything this side of Crysis. As far as Crysis goes, at 1280x1024 resolution it can easily pull a consistent 30 FPS at the highest settings. In TF2 at that resolution, you can expect 90-130 fps. This is the best dang card you can buy for the money. Also, the addition of Far Cry 2 makes a great deal all the better. I recommend this card and EVGA (I used the step up from an 8800 GTS, and couldn't be happier).
Cons: Not a one.
Other Thoughts: Buy this card. You will not regret it. The perfect card for a very high end (but price sensible) gaming machine.

I want more than 30 FPAS i mean that ind of sucks
