hey, im looking to buying a new computer soon in early january. basically core i7, and probably quad sli with the new geforce gtx 295, etc...im having difficulties trying to figure out what monitor to buy since i've been on a laptop for the past 5 years or so

my primary interest, other than gaming, is watching movies. im going to buy an LG blu ray rewriter/player as an optical drive as well...will blu rays played in my computer with a nice lcd deliver the same HD quality playback as a blu ray disc played in a standalone player on a tv

the answer to this question is probably ridiculously simple/silly....but i havent been exposed to any hd technology yet

You'll want a 24" or larger LCD, 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 resolution.
The GPUs you've mention were meant for high res, so it would be a good choice.
The BluRay movies will look fantastic as long as you have your settings tweaked correctly.
I can't say that a $1,000 BluRay standalone player wouldn't give a better picture, but I think you'll be happy.

I've been using an HTPC for a few years now, with BluRay playback on my 46" Sharp for almost a year now and I'm very pleased.
