Im planning on doing a build soon, I dont have the $$ for all the parts right now but I planned on buying what I could so that would also give me the little boost to keep on going and not back out..

I had wanted to go with the NZXT Tempest case... Newegg has it for $109.

The Antec 900 is on sale for.............$59.99!!!!!!! Now, I want the tempest but the 900 looks and should preform almost the same, right?

And for the money, It's hard to pass up... Should I get the 900 for $60??!! IS IT WORTH IT?!

I have a 900.

Pros:
Great cooling. I have a Q6600 in a Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3P with a TRUE running at 3.6 GHz. With Prime95 and vcore of 1.425 volts, core temps are about 60 - 65 C with the case fans set on Low.

Cons:
Nearly everything else. No removeable motherboard tray. Lots of screws. Poor cable management. No system speaker. I'm using one I salvaged from an old ATX case. I magnetically stuck it on the side of the PSU.

PSU mounting is a non-issue. There ARE mounting holes to mount a PSU upside down (fan up).

$60 is a very good price for a 900.

Cable man. isnt a problem, ive heard, drilling 2-3 holes fixes that. What's this about the psu being upside down? Ive heard a lot of people talk about it but I dont fully understand....

So is it worth it? I mean, theres a reason they chose that $110 case to mark down to $60 right?

So should I get the 900 for $60 or wait and get the tempest?

If you look at the mounting holes on the back of the PSU, you will see the two lower holes right in the two lower corners. The upper right hole is about 1/2" down from the corner. The upper left hole is offset to right about an inch from the corner.

What Antec (and probably everyone who uses a bottom mounted PSU) is drill two sets of mounting holes so you can mount the PSU either way. Regardless of top or bottom mounting, you want the fan facing toward the inside of the case.

Apparently, a lot of people with 900's never notice the second set of holes (and never rtfm) and just blindly mount the PSU in the same orientation (fan down toward the bottom of the case) as they would if the PSU were in the top of the case.

"So is it worth it? I mean, theres a reason they chose that $110 case to mark down to $60 right? Don't know. They could simply be putting it on sale. Maybe they are going to discontinue it.

Only you can decide if it's worth it.
