What are the consequences of high cpu temperatures?

I have a Q6600 @3.2GHz (400x8) and with prime95 I get 74C(in real world never get more than 68C) in a room temp 23C, but in the summer I have room temp 33C and cpu temp 84C in prime95. I have this cpu(with that OC) 1 year that mean that already pass a period of 3 months with temps 84C in prime95. I am planning to change my cpu in 8-12 months.

My question is my cpu is going to survive for another 8-12 months(that mean another period of 3 months with temps 84C in prime95)?

Well, no one can say for sure (err, short of sabotaging your build to make sure that it won't). In theory, every 10 degrees C halves the chance that it will survive, but in reality it isn't quite that simple.

I would say yes with about 95% certainty, yes its a little hot but i am yet to see a CPU actually die usually a motherboard or PSU first.
