Hi, I recently built a rig with a Core 2 quad 8200, 4GB (2x2gb) Corsair Dominator 1066 ram(i know, overkill in speed) Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R motherboard. When i booted up the first time i didnt take note of the memory on the screen that came up, but after rebooting a few times after installing XP pro media center, i noticed that it said running memory in single channel mode. How do i change this? I'm positive that i bought DDR2 ram sticks of the same brand and capacity. Is there a setting in the bios? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Perhaps you installed both DIMMs in sockets for the same memory channel, leaving the other channel empty? Your MB manual should describe which slots to install the DIMMs in for dual-channel mode.

+1 to mondoman, make sure the sticks are installed into the proper slots, usually the 4 memory slots are 2 different colors, just make sure the sticks are in the slots of the same color.

pin, other times the correct way is to put them in slots of *different* color -- you can't generalize, but have to check the manual for that specific motherboard.

Some boards want the memory in the same colors while others want the memory in different colors for dual channel. YOU HAVE TO READ YOUR MANUAL.
