I had http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231219 installed in my system. I didnt overclock or touch any software. Just plugged em in and let them be. The vista scoring program in "properties" of "computer" scored my system ram at 5.9. I just added another 4 gigs of ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231209 also just plugged em in and left em. Now it lowered my score to 5.7. Any ideas why? Do I need to make adjustments. They are set as dual channel I believe. A1 and B1 then the new ram is A2 and B2. Any info needed please ask.

Double check your motherboard specs to assure your modules are plugged into the correct dimm sockets. Also check your timings under cmos setup to make sure the ram modules are operating under the correct parameters.

Ok so heres the info

My Bios shows the memory info like this
Advanced>Chipset>Memory Timing Setting

name stated options I can choose

tCL(Cas Latancy) Auto, 1 through 7
tRCD Auto, 1 through 7
tRP Auto, 1 through 7
tRAS Auto, 1 through 31
Command Per Clock(CMD) Auto, 1 Clock, 2Clock

Advanced Memory Settings

tRRD Auto, 1 through 15
tRC Auto, 1 through 31
tWR Auto, 1 through 7
tWTR Auto, 1 through 15
tREF Auto, 1, 2
tRD Auto, 1 through 15
tRFC Auto, 1 through 127

So which options do I change to what?
this is the ram I have
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231219 I have this on A1 and B1 slots

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231209 I have this on A2 and B2 slots

My motherboard is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131232 in the book it says
Channel 1 = A1 A2
Channel 2 = B1 B2
but under Memory configurations on the chart it says
Dual Channel(1) A1 and B1 are populated

When I had ram on A1 and A2 my vista scoer was like 3.6 but when I put the ram on A1 and B1 it jumped to 5.9.

Anyway My overall questions are
1. What settings do I input in my bios?
2. Is my dual channel correctly set up?

Any and all info helps a lot

thanks in advance

Are you sure? Cuz I got a much better grade when I used A1 and B1. Ill give it a shot though. Are there any programs that test ram speed so I can verify its hooked up right?

the dual channel is down to the spec of ur board, some have different DDR layouts.

as for the timings, u need to change the first 4 settings, ie

tcl = 4
trcd = 4
trp = 4
tras = 12

as for the command per clock, this needs to be set to 2

another thing u could do is to replace the newer RAM into the A1 and B1 sockets and the older RAM into the A2 and B2 sockets,

see if that helps.

My bet would be that, now that you have 4 banks of RAM and are forced to use command per clock set to 2 (most BIOSes, when the OS doesn't have an IMC, switch to it automatically when all banks are filled), which has a very strong impact upon RAM performance (pure throughput isn't impacted a lot, but effective latency takes a beating as it almost doubles).

What about this part?

Advanced Memory Settings

tRRD Auto, 1 through 15
tRC Auto, 1 through 31
tWR Auto, 1 through 7
tWTR Auto, 1 through 15
tREF Auto, 1, 2
tRD Auto, 1 through 15
tRFC Auto, 1 through 127

Do I leave it alone?

Also yea I said A1 and A1 then B1 and B2 but I also said on the chart it says A1 and B1 must be populated to be dual channel so it confuses me a bit
But if you say it means A1 and A2 Ill keep it

CPUz is showing me its this currently

heres the ones after I changed the timings
